There are no medications and diet is the only thing you need to control hypoglycemia. Ask your doctor for a referral to a dietitian if you're not sure how to eat now that you know, but here are the basics:

    - Eat smaller but more frequently spaced meals.

    - Try not to go more than 3 hours without eating.

    - Avoid eating foods that have a high glycemic index (such as glucose, found in soda, most breakfast cereals, candy, etc)

    - Start the day with a source of protein (like eggs) and avoid foods that have a moderate-high glycemic index first thing in the morning.

    - Maintain a healthy body weight

    - Exercise

If you are going to splurge and have a high glycemic index food such as candy, make sure you have a good source of protein or fat with it to (so have candy right after a full meal).

If you haven't heard of the glycemic index, it's basically how quickly your body can convert the food into blood sugar. You want to focus on eating lower-GI foods and not shock the hypoglycemic system with high GI foods. There's more info on it in wikepedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glycemic_index

the cure is eating right...and exercise...i have hypoglycemia...it is difficult at times to eat right when you are traveling etc. but having low blood sugar is not the end of the world...i personally would never take a pill over just eating right and exercising...
