What week did you started your maternity leave?

I'm 38w4d with my first. According to my last menstrual my EDD is August 24,09 But according to my ultrasound my EDD is August 31,09. Next week Monday i will be 39 weeks and that's when i'm starting my maternity leave. We get 13weeks with half pay and $400 for live birth. Is this a good time to start my maternity leave.

I would wait, and work as long as you can so that you have more time to spend with your new baby. In Canada, we get a whole year off, and paid 55% of your wage through unemployment.

Where do you live? Every day you take off before the baby is born is a day you won't et to spend with the baby. I would hold off as long as you possibly can, even if that means going right up until you go into labour. I took maternity leave 5 weeks before my baby was born and it was torture sitting around waiting. You have to realize also that I live in Canada and we get a full year of maternity leave. I returned to work when my daughter was 11 months old.

With my son I worked up until I gave birth. Got off work that day at 5pm and checked in the Hospital that night at 11pm. As for this pregnancy we will see how I feel. Money wise I really want to work as long as possible, but health wise some women take a few weeks off to get prepared, or they are put on bed rest. It is a personal decision that needs to be agreeable with your employer. You are so close and have good benefits so if I were you Id go ahead and treat yourself to some rest. Good luck

You should definitely work until delivery. Spontaneous eruption of your water would be a little embarassing if it happened at work. But I say go until you have the baby. That way you have as much time as possible with the new little one. I was due on Monday and worked until Friday. Congrats on the new addition to your family.

I think it depends on how you are feeling - if you are exhausted and too uncomfortable to work, then stop early but if you can force your way through it . . . stay as long as you can. You will be glad to have that extra week or two with your little one.

I had twins - they were born on a Tuesday and I worked up to the Friday before.

    Congrats and best wishes!

I personally kept going until the baby was born so that i could spend all my leave with my baby. You could go to 41 weeks without having a baby, I also had a good pregnancy besides lack of sleep.

Talk to your dr as well as your boss.

I worked up until I had my baby, so I started maternity leave the day I gave birth.

Wow you are lucky. I dont get anything. But my job was lenient, I could basically take it whenever I wanted and still be able to get my job back if I wanted. So I took it at like 32 or 34 weeks. But yea that sounds like a great time to take it!
