Questions about Basic training and special forces?

My nephew is headed off to basic this fall, and then to Special Forces training, if all goes as planned.

How long will he be gone and what can I send him in care packages?

If he is enlisting under the Special Forces option (18X aka 18-xray) he will attend basic and Infantry AIT (16 weeks total), then a pre-SFAS (SFAS is special forces selection) course for I believe 6-8 weeks, followed by SFAS which is 5-6 weeks after which, if he is one of the 15% selected) he will attend Airborne School (4 weeks) followed his Special forces MOS training which is anywhere, depending on the MOS, from 8-18 months. So in all if he makes it through everything he will be in training at least 18 months to 2 years.

He will let you know when and where you can send care packages.
