Well though it is entirely up to you, i recommend keeping your current model unless there is a recurring problem that is keeping you from enjoying the PS3 to the fullest extent. The facts are that the new slim is 33% lighter and smaller and is reportedly much quieter. It is also more energy efficient. My own 60gb PS3 is silent and works fine despite the time I had a manufacturing problem. The new PS3 won't work any better or perform at any better standards except for the better usage of electricity. If you travel with your PS3 than the upgrade may be worth your while but if it is stationary and doesn't cause any problems I would say keep it.

Okay. I got a ps3 yesterday and i knew the slim was going to come out, but i was afraid the slim didnt have the fan you know? and i was afraid that it would overheat. The Slim has more memory and its small. The Big one has a fan, bigger= more protection. So this is what i would do i would wait for the slim to come out , and wait for at least 2 weeks and get reviews of how it is. I had a ps2 slim and it overheat once and smoke was coming out. If i do that again it would brake. So Just wait for the slim and after it comes out wait for a week to see the reviews, so you don't end up buying the wrong thing. I just bought the big one because yeah. I don't want my ps3 to overheat.

    Ohh Well.

Choose what you like it doesnt matter.

Source(s): Had a Ps2 slim, overheated. So Ps3 might end up the same.

    no need to do that

buut if u do then u might want to wait so see the failure percentage of the ps3 slim

the fats ps3 slim has a 0.02% chance of failing

p.s dont use the fan thing on ur ps3 because it over heats the system and cause the the ps3 to get "YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH"

there is no reason to get the slim unless you really just want the 120gb hard drive. but in my opinion the 80gb is fine, plus you can just get a 320gb hard drive for $50 later on to put in the old one if need more space. the slim uses a different hard drive(like ones in a laptop) which are more expensive. and the 80gb has the ability to install different os if you want like linux. check out the comparison in the link below.

    Return it,

your getting more space, something you won't have to clean as much because the old Ps3 get finger prints ( you may know this already), it's smaller in case you want to put it in tinnier places, it's quieter, and eco-friendly ( uses less energy, and made with less materials)

You may want to keep the80GB if you like to stand it vertically.

Well if you could get your hands on one of the first fat models(60gb, old 80gb) get that but the new fat ps3's aren't as good as the slim so get the slim

return it and get the slim... you probably bought it for $399 right?? so you'll save yourself $100 and the slim is sexier

i would just keep the old on the only difference is that it is smaller. you will save time money and effort by keeping the old one
