Does a tampon usually break the hymen?
I wanted to try tampons because I have a heavy flow and it feels so yucky when I'm wearing a pad. I'm a little afraid of breaking my hymen, because I've heard it hurts. Does a tampon usually break the hymen?
Also, how bad does it hurt to break the hymen, from experience?

no. the tampon is no where near your hymen. and yes. it does hurt to break it.

OK, think about how stretchy the skin is, say, between your thumb and finger. Your hymen is also stretchy, and it has a hole in it to allow menstrual blood to escape (as I'm sure you know) -- this hole can either tear (which is when your hymen "breaks") or it can stretch. Some women who use tampons never notice that their hymen has broken (I didn't), but every woman is different.
If you're considering tampons, I would advise you to start with a plastic applicator tampon. Because plastic applicators are slick, they're easier to insert. If you're nervous, try a little water-based lubricant to help the tampon go in.
You can use tampons and not break your hymen. It's possible. But it all depends on the size of the hole in your hymen! The angle is key when you're putting the tampon in. If it hurts, try a different angle.
Good luck!

you could have already broken it from sports
and breaking your hymen doesnt hurt that much especially cause the tampon is small
and besides the pain wont last you will break it one day anyways.....if you wear a tampon it could be less painful during sex...and you know how much bigger a dick is than a tampon.....so just use them i used them and they are 10x better and i cant feel them inside at all
and it didnt even hurt when i put it in
so give it a try the slight pain will be really worth it trust me:)
EDIT and titty fruity is being ridiculous! only if you had actual sex you loose your virginity if a penis hasnt gone in your vagina you are a virgin no matter what
and once you loose it you cant have it back any way
i mean really? would you really have sex with a tampon???? or with your fingers?

Before I had sex for the first time, i could only insert the "junior" tampons.
I broke my hymen during sex, and it hurt like HELL!!!!!
Edit: Tutti Fruity, you're wrong. You lose your virginity after intercourse, whether it is anal, oral, or vaginal, but seeing a gyno, or inserting a tampon does not take away your virginity. That's the dumbest thing i've ever read in my life... Lol not see a gyno... ridiculous.

Yes and also will not be a virgin anymore if you decide to do so.
You are not a virgin if you have....
*Masturbated
*Used tampons
*Had an orgasm
*Had vaginal/anal intercourse
*Have had any pap smears or have seen a gynecologist. No virgin should ever see a gyno if they are a virgin. They can and will take your virginity by a pap smear. If they are the first to be in 'that area' whether it is for a checkup or not, then then therefor you've aloud them to take your virginity.
