My boss has a keylogger program. I checked my email a couple of times at work. Can he spy on me now at home?

Since I had logged on to my yahoo mail at work a couple of times, did the key logger program allow my boss to obtain my password? I do NOT play on the computer at work, but I had an important matter that I had to check on during the work day. I have been worried that he obtained my password and spies on my emails that I do at home. Since I started worrying about this, I have changed my password and installed a security key.

If he actually has a key logger in his company, that is illegal and should be prosecuted. To answer your question, yes, he can access your email unless you changed your password. If you changed your password from home, you'll be fine.

Yes if your work computer has a keylogger on it, it's very possible that your boss has passwords to any websites you logged on from work. It is not illegal for a company to have keylogger or other monitoring software on company property. They are perfectly in their right to do so much like you ISP has the right to monitor you internet usage. Since you do not own your internet or company computer and they are responsible for what you do on their internet connection or network.

Now it would be illegal if your company put a keylogger on your personal computer since it is not their property.

Change you password for home which it sounds like you did and you should be fine.

Yes, your boss would be able to find your login and your password. You already took care of the situation, though. Best idea would be to change your password everytime you needed to check the account from work. BTW, I wouldn't be as worried about your boss as I would be about anyone else at your job that might be buddies with or be in the IT dept.

Linden is wrong. It is legal for a company to monitor all of your activity on company property, even if your on your own time.

Your boss probably would be smart enough not to do this. However, I will tell you this....and remember it.

You have NO expectation of privacy when you are using company computers. None. Zero. Zilch. Its THEIR property and as such is they

have full authority to view and read any files that you may have opened while using THEIR computers. Not that they would actually take the time to do this, but just as a precaution, and so you know what the rules are......be forewarned: The BEST policy is NEVER EVER to use company computers to read or send personal emails!!!!!!

If it is indeed a keylogger then he will have your OLD password. So because you changed it you are good to go, because there is no way of obtaining the new password with the old one.

I don't think so. The keylogger is a program that is installed at work (e.g. my company uses Protemac Keybag) and employers don't have any rights to spy on you at home.
