What do you call a person who plays the recorder?

Is it just plain "recorder player" or a "recordist" or do you call them a "flautist" because the recorder is a type of flute, or is there another name for it? Thanks :)

The recorder pre-dates the flute, and in fact was called the flute before the metal side-blown thing we now call the flute was called the flute. So it is entirely proper to call them "flutists," or "flautists" if you want to sound cultured, or "recorder players," if you want to be unambiguous. Some people use the term "recordists", but that usually refers to someone who records music, not a recorder player.

As to the snide remark about it being a gradeschool instrument, I encourage @kookookachoo to listen to Frans Bruggen, Michala Petri, and countless other professionals on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQatlvFvGdM
