How do you work this out? Don't need answer!?

i don't know. i know lattice and then the basic numbers but idk what method this is.

to do 24x51-

first multiply the right most 2 nos. i.e. 4x1=4

ans.= 4

now multiply cross way and add both the ans. i.e. (5x4)+(2x1)=22

take the units place adding to the ans. and carry the remaining digits

ans.= 24

now multiply the right most two nos.i.e. (5x2)=10.

add the carry over which ws the no. 2 and this ans. 10 i.e. (10+2)=12

join this to the answer and yo will get the final an. as 1224.

it mean 24 * 1 = 24 and 24 * 50 = 1200

1200 + 24 = 24 * 51

Ignore the dots. I had to use them to get the numbers to line up correctly.

Start with the lower number and its right-most digit. Here it's 1 (from 51.) Multiply the top number by this digit. You get

24

Now move to the left to get the next digit from the lower number. Here it's 5. Multiply the upper number by 5 and write that under your previous result, but shifted over once space to the left.

Now add the two numbers:

Ta da! If the lower number had more digits, you would just keep moving left, multiplying the upper number, and shifting the result to the left.

24*51=(1*4+1*20)+(50*4+50*20)=1224
