“Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.”—Colossians 3:21, The Holy Bible—New International Version.
Ephesians 3:14, 15 On account of this I bend my knees to the Father, to whom every family in heaven and on earth owes its name.
2 Timothy 3:14, 15 You, however, continue in the things that you learned and were persuaded to believe, knowing from what persons you learned them and that from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through the faith in connection with Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 6:1 - 4; Children, be obedient to your parents in union with [the] Lord, for this is righteous: “Honor your father and [your] mother”; which is the first command with a promise: “That it may go well with you and you may endure a long time on the earth And you, fathers, do not be irritating your children, but go on bringing them up in the discipline and mental-regulating of Jehovah.”
Ephesians 5:25, 28 - 31; Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and delivered up himself for it, In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation, because we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave [his] father and [his] mother and he will stick to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
Proverbs 18:34; There exist companions disposed to break one another to pieces, but there exists a friend sticking closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:11; Be wise, my son, and make my heart rejoice, that I may make a reply to him that is taunting me.
Proverbs 6: 22; Observe, O my son, the commandment of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother. Tie them upon your heart constantly; bind them upon your throat. When you walk about, it will lead you; when you lie down, it will stand guard over you; and when you have waked up, it itself will make you its concern.
Proverbs 22:6; Train up a boy according to the way for him; even when he grows old he will not turn aside from it.
John 15:23; No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends.

As a father I feel your pain. If that was my son, I'd probably turn to Ecclesiastes: Ecclesiastes 7:16-18 16 Do not be over-righteous, neither be overwise--why destroy yourself? 17 Do not be overwicked, and do not be a fool--why die before your time? 18 It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes. Then I'd gently and calmly explain that older people have a lot of wisdom that it would be good to listen to them and there is wisdom behind God's command: Exodus 20:12 12 "Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. If he objects that this is old testament stuff (and if he's brainy and familiar with the new testament, he might): Ephesians 6:1-2 Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honour your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise-- Use it though gently to explain that it is there for his benefit to help him learn from the wisdom of people who are older. Whatever you do DON'T use it as a stick to bash him into doing everything you say all the time, otherwise he'll throw this verse in your face: Ephesians 6:4 4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Good luck. edit: Chances are, if he's a teenager, he probably is still learning about basic time management, you may want to talk to him about organising his time more efficiently, sit down with him and a piece of paper and get him to write down all he wants to do with his week and the things he has to do with his week, to assign priorities to those things, to separate urgent from important and to learn to cluster tasks etc.

Here are just a few that give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
Exodus 21:7-11
If a man sells his daughter as a female slave, she is not to go free as the male slaves do.
If she is displeasing in the eyes of her master who designated her for himself, then he shall let her be redeemed. He does not have authority to sell her to a foreign people because of his unfairness to her.
If he designates her for his son, he shall deal with her according to the custom of daughters.
If he takes to himself another woman, he may not reduce her food, her clothing, or her conjugal rights.
If he will not do these three things for her, then she shall go out for nothing, without payment of money.
Ephesians: 5
22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
24But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Leviticus 20:9
'If anyone curses his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother, and his blood will be on his own head.
Exodus 21:15 Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death.
Deuteronomy 22:28-29 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered,
he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [a] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.

1Ti 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
So why then are there so many homeless?
