Why are answers censored for their "offensive" content?

Only a few get offended...unfortunately, it only takes 1 or 2 complaints on a q or a for it to be a violation.

People prefer answers they WANT to hear.

Altho one must be 14 to participate in Yahoo Answers, I've seen them as young as 8-11 here.....

Would you have a child that young read very explicit material of a controversial nature? I wouldn't. Many of these 'blunt; answers are way beyond rude....and it's totally unnecessary.

I never take offense to any answers anyone has ever given me on Y/A.. I realize that I am a stranger, others are strangers and everyone thinks differently.... I also try NOT to be offensive to people, and often hope to make people smile....:)

obviously you haven't met "INTERNET HATE MACHINE" or any of the other azz clowns like him they are the reason why y/a is censored.

but other than that people don't really pay attention to the answers they don't want to hear whether it is good advice or not.

*EDIT* I have nothing against "hate machine" personally; but he is the reason y/a censore people have a job and im sure he keeps them very busy.

I absolutely agree!!!!! To many people getting offended to often will result in no-one answering any questions.

People will report anything and block you if you don't give them the answer they want. It is what it is...unfortunately not everyone can manage to have thick skin or take criticism well...

My honest and blunt answer is as follows:

WTH are you doing posting this in marriage and divorce?
