Let see...so far with this pregnancy I have lost a total of two pounds (it was four until this past weekend! We were at the beach and I certainly ate whatever I wanted). I am 31 weeks and kinda hope I will stay within five pounds of my starting point. I am trying to get back to eating healthy and if I gain weight...whatever. I am not worried and did not intend to not gain weight. But I certainly didn't need to...I started at the upper end of overweight (230 on a 5'11'' frame) and didn't need any extra. But if I was a normal weight, I would be fine with gaining 60 pounds or whatever my body needed. My cousin just gave birth in June and she started a bit underweight (maybe five pounds) and gained 67 pounds with her daughter. She has lost all but maybe 20 pounds and looks really good. I know that most people seem to gain somewhere in the 40lbs range. I barely know anyone who actually gains 25 even. I have known a couple other overweight women who have gained only a few pounds too. But it all depends on what you start at.

I gained 22 pounds and was harassed constantly by the nurse, first because I had gained too much weight early on and then not gaining more in the last 2 months. Couldn't win.
This time around, because I am overweight, the doc doesn't want me to gain more than 15 pounds total.

I gained 25 with my daughter and lost it all in just a few months after giving birth from breastfeeding. She's almost a year old now and I am actually 30 lbs. less than before I even got pregnant from continuing to breastfeed. If you are thin, you should gain around 35 lbs., average weight 25 lbs. and overweight, no more than 15.

I gained alot. First pregnancy went from 110 to 280 baby born 7lbs 0oz; the second baby 125 to 250 baby born 7 lbs 9oz. I did not have high blood pressure/preclampsia or diabeties. Lost the weight with the first baby in 3months; with this one i'm breastfeeding continuously and so far down from 250 to 189; still some weight to go but i figure i'll lose it once i'm done breastfeeding when she's one. - Sure the doctor gave me a hard time, but hey I was hungry and there was no way i was starving myself because i'd turn into a shewolf...LOL

I am 33 weeks 4 days and I have only gained 4 pounds. My doc isnt concerned. He said the only way he would be concerned is if I was loosing weight.
But I have a friend who just had her baby a couple months ago, and she gained 75 pounds!

i gained about 40 lbs all together. and in the books they said someone under weight would gain more than a normal or overweight person. so i was suppose to gain about 25 to 30 lbs according to the books. but i don't care because my doctor said i was doing good and the baby was healthy.

I will be 33 weeks tomorrow and have gained about 5 pounds. Everyone is so different, you just never know how your body will react.
