Having some religious problems?

I have been thinking for a while about whether god exists or not and I have come to the conclusion that there more than likely is not a god. My problem is I don't know if I should talk to my family about it. I'm worried that they will try to convert me. Oh and if I think that there more than likely isn't a god would that make me an atheist? I don't want to scare them if I don't have to.

Let me begin by stating that I am an ordained minister. I once found myself asking very similar questions as I think most people have. I am happy to see that you are learning and exploring religion. Education is the path to overcoming prejudice. If you are comfortable and confident in your position you should have the courage to talk about such an important topic with those that are closest to you. Although diversity is a difficult thing to overcome, especially in those that are closest to us, a loving, understanding family will do just that. Love you, understand you and accept you for who you are and the choices that you make. Some people try to make a difference between non-believers and atheists. I generally don't make that distinction, but there has been a lot of negative stereotypes associated with atheism. As with most stereotypes they are wrong. Exaggerations of a much smaller truth. Don't let a name, or a word discourage you from doing anything your heart tells you to. I find that people are afraid of language, but I have yet to find a good reason for it. Words, no matter how foul, dirty, politically incorrect, shunned or otherwise are all we have to communicate with generations past and future. Don't let a word like atheism scare you away from what you want. It may sound strange for a minister to encourage you to follow a path of non-belief, but God loves us all, and Jesus died for our sins. Including not believing. Christ be with you...if you like.

If you aren't sure it would make you agnostic

You should meditate on the fact that you exist. This planet exists, thought exists. Then think about a watch found out in the middle of the desert. Do you think the wind created it? What about he sand? You know that an intellegient being created it. Think about yourself again.

lol faith means no one knows they just believe in something blindly. Think about it who can say there is a god an prove it no one. Thats why they always say you just have to believe. It be like me telling you that a giant cheeseburger created you and you must worship it or you will go to trash(hell). believe wat you want i do. and if there is a god i will see you in hell. hahahahahaha hope not tho. and no atheist means you dont believe in anyhting so stop believeing in everything and then yes you can consider yourself an atheist. o an your family will try to convert you and believers do, its just there way, and if you sayt here rong or ask them to prove it they will get mad because they cant and just keep saying you just gotta believe. If i was you i would just believe just incase you know what im sayin. hahahhahahaha

    Source(s): uh duh
  • they probably WILL try to convert you. Just don't tell them. It's not their business anyway.

I personally believe in God but I don't care that someone doesn't. So what? It doesn't change anything. People still have a sense of right and wrong. YOU do.

Yes, you sound like an agnostic atheist. I'm one of those myself.

If you feel that they need to know that, then you should tell them. They may, or may not, take it well, but if it's important to you that they know, then go for it.

I did, and everything is fine for me. I get teased a little, but that's about as far as it goes.

the reason people don't think you is as a results of the fact to at present no one has been able to conclusively coach they have powers. in case you are able to not understand the place all people is coming from, you are the single being unreasonable. you additionally could make $a million million income case you touch the James Randi fund and exhibit your powers in a controlled putting. in case you experience which you do no longer choose to make the main your powers for money, then donate it. yet once you are able to not coach you're able to do issues you declare you're able to do, while no one has ever been able to tutor it, do no longer whinge that persons don't think you. in basic terms have faith in your self. people who're beneficial and take care of of their skills do no longer choose exterior validation for them. In different words, in case you relatively had those powers, I doubt you would be broadcasting or boasting approximately it. i'm individually no longer closed minded to psychic skills yet your declare of "powers" seems outstanding and is greater in line with interest-seekers than authentic psychics. yet with the help of all skill, touch Randi and placed all doubters to shame. while it hits the information, i'll humbly make an apology for doubting you. PS__ Wicca isn't "approximately nature"... this is a faith. that is with reference to the type you worship your GOds and stay your existence.

Don't think. Pray. There is only one God and if you seek Him you will know Him and you won't be confused anymore. God bless you and good luck with whatever your decision is.

You don't have to speak every thought you are having, you know. Nothing wrong with just thinking and observing with your new found perspective, for a while, to get comfortable with and confident in it.

good. the more you study the world, the more obvious there is no god(s).

It's just something humanity made up to explain things they don't understand.

don't bring it up if their reaction is hostile and not intellectual.

Study more about the world. Develop your insight.

  • No it would make you agnostic..

And it's ok to question things religion is to be question just as anything else is.
