computer mouse and key board not responding!?

I recently moved and when plugged in computer a green led light was flashing on back ..found online to unplug the connection into the mother board in the hard drive and then plug back in . I did that but now my mouse and keyboard are not responding. it is a basic hp computer with the color coordinated plugs in the back so i know they are plugged in the right spots and have good connection ..no bent pins inside either. my computer powers up perfect now but no response out of the mouse and key board. no they are not wireless . hi crystal

if your mouse and keyboard are usb connected then try changing the usb ports they are connected to as this can sometimes be the problem in these situations

however theres also a option in the pc,s bios, restart your pc and when it initially starts again press the "delete" key(or appropriate key) to enter the bios and then go to "intergrated peripherals" and then to "onboard pci device"

then look for the option(s) marked "usb keyboard support" and "usb mouse support"..then if these are "disabled" press enter and change these to "enabled"..then press esc and when on the main bios screen press the option "save and exit set up" to save all the changes to the cmos...your pc will now restart (do not power off while this is happening)

also if your mouse and keyboard are connected through a usb hub do not use these as they are unreliable and can cause problems with certain usb devices....allways connected important peripherals like your mouse and keyboard directly into a usb port

however your problem isnt unusual as most pc owners will experience some problem with their pc after they have moved

why ?...well moving a pc will probally cause cables and connectors inside your pc to become loose,so a internal check of your pc would be a good idea and if theres any loose connections or cables then reconnect them in the approriate slot or port

a good indication on the workability of your keyboard is if your keyboards ok when you are in the bios then the problem is with the operating system and not the actual computer or keyboard

and the same applies to your mouse, however since you cant check this out in the bios its not as easy to diagnose

if all else fails buy a usb to ps2 adapter to allow you to use both mouse and keyboard in the ps2 ports,as these are more reliable then usb connections, you can buy a usb to ps2 adapter from http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Sub...

    any problems let me know

    good luck crystal !

attempt shutting off the laptop and unplugging your computers potential. double verify mouse and keyboard are in the wonderful option slots. plug the computers potential back in and reboot. i think of this reason a working laptop or pc desires the hardware plugged in formerly hand to run it easily.
