    neither.

    the people are poor.

    the philippines is very corrupt.

    its two different things.

there are lots of countries more poor than the philippines that are not as corrupt so it isnt a direct relationship between the two things, although they can feed off each other.

I believe that the US style political system encourages corruption by concentrating too much power in the hands of individuals at the local level.

The British system would be better as it requires more of a consensus between different groups before decisions are made.

Nobody forced them to be corrupt..., they chose to be corrupt! Being poor is not an excuse to steal money from the so called, "kaban ng bayan." There are a lot of poor Filipinos who are trying to survive without even stealing a single centavo from their fellow Filipinos.

I think it is poor because so many leaders are corrupt. Although it takes time is right along with bhuwisit.

It doesn't matter what the cause(s) is.

What matters is that the people there collectively do not care enough to solve the problem.

And please everyone, if you cared enough to do something about it, you would realize that giving me a TD for my reply IS NOT going to solve it--so what's the point?

Wouldn't you rather work towards fixing the problem...NOW?

What, you're too busy TD-ing me or denying the problem?

Well, I guess I proved my point.

    Have a nice weekend.

No, the Philippines is poor because its still a young country and the people haven't learned much. We have a lot more to experience and more lessons to learn. There's corruption in every country but some of them are rich. I wonder why.

It's a cycle actually. It's just the same as the old question "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" :)

  • Wish there were an easy answer to both problems.
