You can make side-by-side comparisons at Best Buy. Everyone has different taste and "worth it" is subjective.
Altec-Lansing, Sony and Logitech make high-end products without the steep price tag.

it is definetly worth it. i didnt know there was a monthly fee though. which one are you talking abo ut?
