Heul, german meaning?

Trying to learn German, but what does "heul" mean, as in

Heul doch or warum heul ich Nächte lang

    the verb is "heulen" meaning crying.

    So your sentences are "just go ahead and cry" and "why am I crying night after night"

    doch= already

    Warum Ich heul Nächte lang;

    Warum= why (why do i cry all night long)

    ich= i

    heul= cry

    Nächte= Night

    lang= long

    The verb "heulen" normally means "to howl". But It's also used as a synonym for "weinen", which means "to cry"
