How much food should I be giving them.?

One of my rats looks as if she is getting a little fat and I was just wondering, what is the recommended daily intake of food for rats. I do have a book about rats but it does not state how much they need to be given. I just fill up the bowl to about 3 quarters of the way up.

youre not meant to feed rats certain amounts! they should have food available to them AT ALL TIMES! theyre not like humans they dont have set meal times etc, they eat when they get hungry and stop when theyre full. if youre rat is getting fat its probably just not active enough or is eating unhealthy food

I usually suggest that rats have food available at all times do to their fast metabolism.

How old is your rat? She could still be growing.

    Try giving her more exercise.
