Obama health care vs. France's health care?
Thank you to everyone for giving me clear, concise answers.
Considering France has the #1 rated health care system in the world (they were ranked by the World Health Organization, which is in the United Nations) I was wondering if anyone can tell me how close Obama's plan is to the France's. Is it possible to just adopt the same plan, why or why not?
Please don't tell me to 'go live in France' or some other BS like that, all I'm trying to do is expand my knowledge about Obama's health care plan and how good it is (though I am not basing it solely on comparison to France's) which I think ppl should be happy I am, and not chastising me for possibly supporting the plan.

France has a single-payer system, like Canada's. Those of us who want a single-payer system usually point to Canada's system as an example, we talk of a 'Canadian-style single payer system'. This might be because we have a lot of animosity towards France in the US, so nobody wants to say 'Hey, let's do it like the French do!'
A single-payer system would cut out the commercial insurance companies. The fed. govt. would act as the insurance company, as it does with Medicare, and insurance companies would be selling -supplemental- insurance for things like cosmetic surgery, or for people who wanted better service, like a private room in a hospital.
In polls, 60-70% of Americans favor a single-payer system. Medicare works just great, it costs much less than commercial insurance but it has the same 'outcomes' (i.e. it works as well when you're sick or need to go to the hospital) and it has BETTER customer satisfaction, and it saves lots of money. If we simply expanded Medicare to cover everyone in the country, we would save hundreds of billions of dollars a year!
But no politician wants to cut out the big commercial insurance companies because they contribute a lot to political campaigns, both parties. So every plan we see from politicians keeps a handful of big corporations in charge of our health care, and puts their continued profits as its first priority. Obama's plan could be seen as no more than a big govt. subsidy to the big insurance companies. It -might- be good for us, it will certainly be good for them.
The problem is that, like with everything else, we see profits as 'success'. If the insurance companies make more money, the plan will be considered successful. Profit and return on investment is the highest priority. In France (and other countries) the top priority is actually health care.

They are not really comparable, not at all. In France the public health system means that most hospitals are directly owned and run by the state, and most doctors are thus civil employees. Private health care exists, but only as a supplement to the public system, which is administered by the state in cooperation with labor unions and employers. Not a single one of these things is a part of HR 3200, which is the only serious plan on the table right now (not counting Anthony Weiner's plan, which is a very nice universal health care system that no one is brave enough to support).

The dirty little lie that the Dems aren't telling you is that NO Socialized health care plan (including medicare) is able to support itself. France and Canada are looking at increasing rationing to help offset the billions of dollars that they are losing every year. Doctors and nurses are paid about 1/3 of what we pay in the US and there is a large defection of medical professionals from France (especially).
The best and brightest young talent in our country often go into medicine. We will lose those great minds to other more lucrative fields where they can actually pay for their school loans. Who wants a C student for their Doc?

I watched his health care statement on TV a while back and he kept flip flopping around between diffferent things. I personally want a Socialistic health-care system, It's cheaper, everyone gets it, and it's nice to know if a family gets an illness like caner, the family is not going to have to shell out thousands to hundreds of thousand dollars if they die or if they don't die.
The only reason people don't like is because they Socialism and thats like communiusm, people also don't realize is our public libraries are run on socialism that's why its always free to check out a book. They also think they will not be able to keep their doctor, but if they though hard for 5 minutes they would come tho the conclusion ( health care is free i could go to ANY doctor that still chose to be a doctor) and some people think, oh my doctor drives a Mercedes he must be good.

i don't know about france's system but since you say UN as the best i am interested in checking it out now. I'm not a fan of Obama's health care system because obama is only thinking of TODAY he's not thinking of the future. He's not thinking of the outcome. He's not realizing that if he goes through with his health care, he'll be killing the patients and you can expect a lot of malpractice lawsuits in the future.

do a sprint study in case you desire to be taken heavily. try analyzing HR 3200 and learn on the subject of the French structures. listed right here are a pair of articles that instruct socialized wellness care (particularly in France) do not artwork. i'm hoping that gets you all started.

The USA cannot hope to compete with other countries health care provisions at the moment because you folks are being brainwashed by the insurance companies and private health care providers with their lies and scare tactics.
Your President is hoping to include the 40 million fellow American citizens who can't afford a health care plan at the moment as part of the Nation's responsibility to look after all its citizens.
Not a bad aim for a superpower.

Obama does not have a health care plan. He has not personally proposed a plan, only stated aspects that he supports, including, at times, a Public Option.
There is no Obama plan, which is part of the problem and why there are so many lies and confusion elements about it.

The UN is a pretty poor judge of anything and so is the WHO. Don't rely on that criteria until you read their method of judging. I personally don't want France's healthcare plan either.
