Question about getting a perm.?

So if I get a perm and it starts to grow out, my new hair at the roots will be straight but the rest will be curly..right? So if that is the case what do people usually do when this happens??

I had a curly perm for years, and this is one of the reasons I finally gave it up.

You can seek styles that work with the top straight, up to a point. Since my hair grows pretty fast, I reached that point too soon. You can use headbands, barrettes, a side part and mousse (a kind of cool 30s retro look is possible), and you can take a curling iron to that part to make it look less flat and straight.

But in the end, for me, mostly I looked like a sheepdog after six or eight weeks.

They get a retouch. But by the time that your hair has grown out noticeably, The perm will have loosen up, and eventually go back to your natural hair. Perms only lasts about 3 months.
