x + 2/3 = 8/15
We want to isolate x. So to do that we have to get rid of the 2/3. Since 2/3 was added to x, we need to do the opposite - subtract. We must subtract 2/3 from both sides of the equation.
x + 2/3 = 8/15
x + 2/3 - 2/3 = 8/15 - 2/3
x = 8/15 - 2/3
To do 8/15 - 2/3, make the two fractions have a common denominator. We'll choose 15 as the denominator. So 2/3 becomes 10/15.
x = 8/15 - 10/15
x = -2/15
5/7 = 10/x + 2
Again we need to isolate x. First begin by subtracting 2 from both sides.
5/7 - 2 = 10/x - 2
5/7 - 2 = 10/x
Again we have to make a common denominator to do the subtraction. Choose 7 as the common denominator.
5/7 - 14/7 = 10/x
-9/7 = 10/x
Since x is divided, we must multiply it to both sides to get rid of the division.
-9/7(x) = 10/x(x)
-9/7(x) = 10
To get x by itself, we need to get rid of the -9/7. The -9/7 is multiplied by x, so we have to divide it from both sides to get x by itself.
(-9/7)(x) / (-9/7) = 10 / (-9/7)
x = 10 / (-9/7)
To divide fractions multiply by the reciprocal.
x = 10(-7/9)
x = -70/9
Always plug in your answer back into the equation to check your work.

x+2/3=8/15
Subtract 2/3 from both sides.
x=8/15-2/3
You can't subtract 2/3 from 8/15 because the denominators are different, so you have to make them the same, so multiply the numerator and denominator of 2/3 by 5 (you always have to do both) so the denominator will be 15.
x=8/15-10/15
x= -2/15
5/7 = 10/x+2
Multiplay both sides by x+ 2. When you multiply 10/x+2 by x+2, it cancels both of them out, so it becomes
(5/7)(x+2) = 10
Now dive both sides by 5/7 so x+2 will be by itself
x+2= 14
subtract 2
x = 12

For the first one, make the first fraction have the same denominator as the second. So x + 10/15 = 8/15. Now subtract 10/15 from both sides...
x = -2/15

Subtracting 2/3 from 8/15 will give you the value of x. The second equation is a little more involved. I am not going to do you math homework for you. Read your textbook and work out the problem.
