Song: You're So Vain?
In "You're So Vain" one of the lines in the chorus is about "clouds in my coffee." Does anyone know what 'clouds in my coffee' is about?

"Clouds in my coffee" are the confusing aspects of life and love. That which you can't see through, and yet seems alluring...until. Like a mirage that turns into a dry patch. Perhaps there is something in the bottom of the coffee cup that you could read if you could (like tea leaves or coffee grinds). Carly Simon 5/17/01

Carly Simon has never said who this song is about. Some of the rumors are Warren Beatty, Kris Kristofferson, Cat Stevens, and Mick Jagger, all of whom she had affairs with. In a 2008 interview to promote her album This Kind of Love, she said: "When I had the line 'You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you,' that was definitely about one person. The rest of the descriptions basically came from my relationship with that person

Clouds in coffee go away after a while after stirring your coffee. In the song, "You're So Vein", Carly Simon talks about how this person stole her dreams. Much like clouds in coffee, her dreams went away because of this other person. Kind of sad, but I believe that's what she meant.

I think someone is crying in their coffee/all confused emotionally about ther person who is vain. Doesn't feel loved by that person and is getting very emotionally "cloudy" tearie" and distressed.

Spoiled milk. It's a metaphor for something gone wrong. Carly Simon was a remarkable singer btw.
