How tall should a twin tipped ski be?

I need new twin tips but am unsure of how tall I should get them. 171 cm brings it just about up to my eyebrows which, I was told, is a generally good height. I definitely want to be able to use them outside of the park as well, in intense, and steep terrain in Colorado. Should a go for eyebrow level, or even higher?

Update:

On the subject of my skiing ability, I would consider myself fairly advanced, good coordination, with pretty good core, and leg strength. I've been skiing for 8+ years, (I'm 17) and ski with confidence.

Twin tips ski shorter than their length so the 171 twin tip will ski like a 160 shaped ski and for an expert in most terrain this is about as short ar you should go. My concern is the amount of float you will get in soft snow off piste. In the steeps they should do OK if they have a solid edge feel. It will depend more on the specifics of the pair you are choosing than the 171 length. If the ski is soft and too flexible, it will be a real touchy ride on the steeps at any more than a moderate speed. Have fun good luck. Enjoy the new skis.

Generally newer skis want to fall between your chin and eyebrows. It sounds like you're about 5' 9" so 171 is a good length. Anything longer would be based on your ability and can't be answered with the details you've given. BTW twin tips actually ski like a ski that is about 5-7cm shorter because of the turned up tail which would fall around your nose or mouth. Your best bet is to try a few pairs before committing to one. You may not get a great deal if you wait until the season starts but buying now could result in a ski that you aren't happy with and will be a waste of money anyway.

they may be any lenght yet i want to advise everywhere from one hundred seventy five to 185. attempt to get on the brink of 178 cm. even though it relies upon on how nicely you could take care of them, the middle of the ski, ect. What skis you watching? bypass with 174 cm till you have by no ability tried twin counsel before, nor been in a position to do tricks. in case you have lesser skill in that section bypass with 169 cm. believe me i be attentive to plenty approximately snowboarding, and my brother works in a ski save.
