How do you transfer a youtube video onto your computer?

Hey please first download safari 4.

Change the settings of safari

in one the settings select the check box which says "show developer menu"

click ok

then open the video in safari

after the video starts playing for atleast 10 sec

then right click on the page( on space not on video)

select "inspect element" ( this option appears only if you have activated the developer menu)

then select sort elements by size

the first one has highest size

select it on the left side

right side is your video link

copy the link and download it using any download managers like orbit, DAM

There are 2 main ways, you can either use some other software, or find the file yourself (which isnt really that hard).

The easiest is to use a program on a website (in rare cases i use vixy.com) or as a plugin for firefox.

The other way is to find the flv file on your computer locally in the temp folder. I'm pretty sure you can do this with any browser, but the temp folder and accessibility to the temp folder will be different. To use this method in Internet Explorer do this

1) watch the whole movie or let it play from beginning to end. This is because when you watch a youtube video, it is being downloaded onto your computer

2)go to this location "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files" and organize the folder to search by file format. Look for a .flv file. It should be there, once you find it, copy it somewhere and convert it to another video format if you need to.
