What's the best area of London to live in?
I saw a great flat online in Canning Town but then I was reading that it's not a very nice area. Is that true? Where in London should I get the best value for the area? I don't mind if the area is gritty, I just don't want to end up in a dangerous section of town.

Think all towns have an area which you should just stay away from. I reckon Clapham offers some really great value accommodation and actually I havnt heard anything negative about it. Its on the Northern Line as well as having an overground. Great night life and eatery places as well. This is off topic but thought I would share this with you its a voucher that entitles you to complimentary cocktails for you and a friend : www.timeout.com/beefeater24 and there is actually a bar in Clapham that is accepting the voucher - so house hunt in the area :)

If you can't afford the civilised areas of central London and want to avoid the depravity of the inner city nonsense then somewhere a bit further out like Wimbledon might satisfy you if you don't mind commuting. If you have a little more money look at Fulham or West Kensington.
