He is probably going to discuss how important education is, and I would be proud of Bush if he did the same.

Republican, democrat, independent, whomever. Education is an important issue.

Keeping children out of school on September 8 may be counterproductive for those parents who are opposed to Obama. Instead. on the night before the speech, the parents should talk to their kids about what the President might say and discuss the differences between fact and propaganda. They should tell their children to listen carefully to the speech so they can report back what was said. Older children might be encouraged to take notes. After the speech, the parents can sit down with their children and discuss what the President told them. If the parents neglect to send their kids to school that day, they may lose a valuable opportunity to prepare their kids for the real world. As they grow older, their children are going to to be exposed to all sorts of opinions, Parents need to foster their children's critical thinking skills so they won't be so susceptible to propaganda and brainwashing. Preventing them from hearing the President is not the way to do this.

  • Obama is going to ask all children these questions:

    1. What is the President trying to tell me to do?

    2. What is the President asking me to do?

    3. Does the speech make you want to do anything?

    4. Are we able to do what the President is telling us to do?

Wow an educational opportunity for children that teaches them about the government and how to listen and comprehend and process information for themselves...HORRORS!

I had no problem with Bush reading kid's books in schools, why is this even an issue? The President won't be beaming them with commie/socialist Internet rays or anything...

I think its good. Children are often overlooked as not worthy of an opinion about anything.

If anything, it will enable teachers to teach their students about government or history.

And he chose Sept. 8th because that's the first day of school for many children across the country.

Sounds like we have a president who cares about the youth of America.

    What's the problem ?

I dont' know if you have kids but I do... they don't exactly understand yet why they shouldn't share drinks or lollipops.... and with a flu pandemic, that has proven fatal to young children,... the more it's talked about the better.

President Obama cares about all Americans. Bush only cared about making his buddies rich.

I would have liked it if Bush actually cared about our children. I am glad we have President who see's our children as something other than future soldiers.
