New to cichlids and I need a bit of advice please.?

I currently have :

4" red zebra,

2-1" red zebras,

2-1" Kenyis,

1" white (not sure of the name),

3" Johanni,

3" Gerbergi,

3" Peacock, and

3- 1 1/2" peacocks.

I have a 75 gallon tank to set up. I was thinking of putting the peacocks in their own tank. Would they do okay in the 75 with the others or should I go ahead and put them in their own tank? If I did put the peacocks in their own tank, would a 46 gal bow-front be okay?

I would probably separate the peacocks but you can leave them in there just keep an eye for them because they are less aggressive then the other fish. Another thing is their diet, I do believe that they are carnivorous while the Mbuna are grazers. Malawi bloat might be an issue.

The white one, does it have a black streak on the top of its dorsal fin? If it does it might be a white lab.

Gerbergi never heard of that one before.

Johanni, are you sure its a Johanni not an Auratus. Because that would be a deadly mistake.

In my tank i have 10 red zebras, 1 cobalt blue, 1 BB red top, and 1 Johanni and they all get along pretty good besides the random chase.

The red zebra will probably be the tank boss and keep everyone in check. Either put a ton of rocks in the tank and create lots of caves, since you have 12 fish create like 15 caves and separate them evenly throughout the tank so the cichlids can stake out their own place. OR place rocks in there and make zero caves just rocks to get in the way of the chaser. Like pillars, that way no caves mean no reason to be territorial. Thats what ive done and everyone is mellow and i get to see them because my fish love to hide from me.

im not sure about some of the fish u have but i have 15+ peacocks 12 + yellow labs 14+ red zebras, 10 spec 44, 1 fontosa, some hap ali's some taiwan reefs, 2 damasoni and a bunch of others all in a 140 gal tank. total fish in the tank when it broke (corner seal let go) 80 fish (no lies) and i had 1 bully in there that needed to be seperated once or twice due to fighting think he was a kenyis. this tank was running for 2 years b4 it broke.

    im not too sure what

"white (not sure of the name),

    3" Johanni,

    3" Gerbergi,"

    are so i cant comment.

    just my 2 cents.....

Quite a colorful mixture you have there.I would separate the peacocks and put them in their own tank along with some dither fish (such as dwarf rainbows). The 46 gallon bow front would be an excellent tank for the peacocks.

No matter what your going to do the fish will fight. I have kept 10 cichlids in a 250 gallon tank and they still fought it out. For now they will be fine but they will most likely outgrow that tank in no time. Separating the peacocks will only make them get territorial and in that small of a tank they will get mean and nippy to anyone you decide to add.
