You should probably be a warrior as a starter, its a pretty simple class that lets you get a feel for the game. Dwarf is a good class though, one of my best characters was a dwarf warrior. Once you get the hang of things, you can go into more complex classes, like casters and whatnot.
As for add ons, the only ones I have ever used were atlas loot and quest helper. Anything else clutters the screen too much for my taste.

I think if you're going to start WoW, a hunter would be a good class to pick, easy to play whilst leveling and your pet does most of the work anyway, but you get used to the game too and can then move on to make different classes when you get used to playing.

is a great site to get addons, it has different ones for different classes and you should easily be able to pick which ones you like the look of, although whilst leveling you won't need as many as you do at end game content. With the recruit a friend thing you get lots more experience than normal, so should level much faster, this'll let you see if you like your class or not and you can always make a new character if you don't like hunters (although hunters are much nicer at level 10+ when they have pets, so don't give up on it too early :P) Hope this helps, have fun ^^

Dwarfs Rock!
Hunter might not be a great idea i played one to 55 and then just stopped and played a Death knight. I think i would go warrior. but its your 15 bucks a month do what you think is fun.
Get quest helper its a great tool! lvling is such a drag without it!
But just take it slow and enjoy lvling dont just race to 80 have fun with it!
BE careful its an addicting game! haha
Good luck!
