I'm not very sure what you mean but i think the word document program you meant is microsoft word. Is it correct?

you said you can view the previously saved document but can't find the program that help you make the document. My best guess is the program is still there but the icon is disappeared somehow

Try to look for it in the Start Menu. If you use Vista, just type the name of the program in the search bar in the start menu.

If you use XP, look in the menu first, if you can't find it then do search by holding down the winkey (the funny key with a flag on it) and the 'F' key, then type in the program and hit search. Have a look in the 'Program Files' too

You can always opt for OpenOffice. It's a free alternative to MS Office

It's a lot easier to accidentally delete the Microsoft Word desktop link than it is to accidentally uninstall Word itself. Try this:

In Windows Explorer, find a document and try to open it. If you can, Word is still on your machine and all you have to do is reestablish a desktop link for it. Here's how:

    1. In Windows Explorer (aka My Computer), navigate to

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office (for Office 2000)

    or

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10 (for Office 2002 (XP))

    or

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 (for Office 2003)

    or

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 (for Office 2007)

    2. Right-click on Winword.exe and select Create Shortcut. A pop-up will ask you if you want to create it on the desktop. Click Yes.

    Hope that helps.

Start - Configuration screen - Software - Adding windows part's or delete them

I translates the names of the things a bit crappy, my PC is in Dutch.

You could also get openoffice. It's free, good and you can open word documents AND save word documents.

Did you loose "WORD" or the Icon (shortcut)? Search your program file for winword.exe, if you find it you still have the program. You can then right click on it and place a shortcut in your desired location. Exact proceedure depends on your version of windows.

Try a file recovery program like "Recover My Files" it can bring deleted files back from the dead.

If you are referring to the entire MS Word software then you can look in this directoy

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11

Look for a file called WINWORD and right click on that icon and then either pin it to start menu or send to > Desktop shortcut.

Go back to the desktop and click on the icon

If you wiped your drive or anything then you will need to reinstall the software using the disc for the software.
