What keyboard to use to get this sound?

First Im looking to duplicate a certain vintage sound. In the 70's Bands like Bob Seger, Santana, and others used a keyboard/ organ with a leslie speaker attached, some sample songs would be like "Gimme some loving" , "Evil Ways", etc.. does anyone know what make/model keyboard that was?

Second, I am looking for a Synthesizer that will give me that sound.. any ideas?

I use a Roland RD-700SX Synth and I am very pleased with it.

It has several organ tones with and without the Leslie Cabinet rotator effect, and it has organs of the Hammond B3 sound as well as an approximation of the Lowrey Berkshire (although they do not use the actual names for legal reasons).

Edit: Hammonds are the organ most commonly used by rock stars, including Santana, Doors, Genesis, and Pink Floyd. Lowreys are used by The Beatles and The Who.

They were using a Hammond tonewheel organ with a Leslie rotating speaker. There were several models of each (the B3 is generally the preferred organ). These days there are several keyboards that emulate these with varying degrees of accuracy. They are collectively known as "clonewheels." Look on the Keyboard Corner forum on www.musicplayer.com and do a search on "clonewheel" and you should find a discussion that can help you find a good tonewheel emulator.
