Would I get in trouble in college for being tardy?
I was late in signing up for classes and I had to get a daily class of English that ends at 8:50AM and a M-Thu Chemistry class that starts at 9:00AM. The problem is that I would have to cross a moderately busy street and go around 2 buildings to get to my Chemistry class. If I were to be late, will they shut the door on me? Will I get into trouble? (this is a community college)

Well, from what I've experienced, college professors don't care if you come to class at ALL! Afterall, it's the student's loss.

Most likely not. But it depends on the teacher, how late you are, and how often it happens. College isn't as strict as high school, but it is still rude to be late and interrupt class. If you can't make it in 10 minutes, then you should either inform the teacher you might be a minute or two late or if it will be a bigger problem, perhaps you should take another class.

Sometimes in these situations it would be wise to open a line of communication with the professor and let them know you may be getting to class a few minutes late do to the close class times. Talk in person or email them.

I understand your situation. It can be very hectic getting from class to class when you have a jam-packed course load. Whether or not you'll be in trouble depends upon your professor's attendance policy. Some professors have the 3 tardies = 1 absence, and 3 absences = one lower letter grade policy. Speak to your professor and let him or her know that you're trying, but having a hard time getting there. Your professor should be understand.

I know of some professors who lock the doors at the beginning of class, and others who don't care if you show up at all. Still, you should be able to manage crossing a street and going around two buildings in 10 minutes!

People are expected to behave like adults in college and are treated accordingly. It would be courteous to explain your situation to the instructor/professor but no one is going to lock you out of class.
