Did Che Guevara have a red or a silver star on his beret?

If it was both, did each one symbolize something different?

Che Guevara's hat is insignificant. He wasn't making any statement or anything, and he in fact wore many hats, many of which had no star. He also went hatless much of the time. With that in mind, I can't think why he would wear anything but a very standard communist hat with a red star on it, which of course is a symbol of communism. You probably think it's silver because you saw a black and white image which was partially colored in. That other guy had a picture with a gold star, but this is an illustration, and the artist probably didn't like the look of a red star because the cover of TIME is also always red.

Do yourself a favor and join the Army. It's the only legitimate reason to wear a beret.
