i need to know about backgrounds?

i have been working on getting a background on a webpage of mine,, so i have been going to yahoo images, and google images, when i find one i click it to view full size the save as to my comp. then after i save as its only 300x300 how many megapixels should a background be?(if its a full size bg) Also what is a table? (for a background)

jonathan- sorry, but what is a "seamless"bg do you mean a bg that is not a tiled bg? also do you have any idea of what a table is?

    If the image you're using for a background is a seamless pattern you can use CSS.

    Other wise you should just take into consideration the viewers screen resolution size typically 800x600, 1024x768, or higher.
