What style music are The All-American Rejects?

I love The All-American Rejects, but I'm not too sure what style music they are... It's been bugging me for a while now, and the only style I can think of is rock, but I'm not so certain.

    they're music is quite diverse, fits into several categories

    i think the first album is more punk/pop

    the second is pop rock

    and the third is rock alternative...

    the one thing that they AREN'T though is an emo band, yet a lot of people categorize them as that for some reason....
