They have great little personalities but I tend to stay away from the 'smush faced' dogs due to breathing and eye problems. If you want to get a pug be sure to check out both parents for these things and have a vet give the pup a good examination & clean bill of health.

Warning: Pugs shed for a living!!!!! Cant say you weren't warned...
Highly Intelligent and will get bored if the training is repetitive. They are very loyal! They need a calm, yet firm and confident owner who is consistent with the rules. Since they are independent they need a strong pack leader! Cold and hot weather stresses pugs. Also they are prone to many illnesses including:
-Allergies
-Breathing problems
-Delicate eyes (blindness)
-Obesity
-Skin problems
and many others...
I would not recommend pugs, but if you want one they can be good dogs. Another breed you may enjoy are Dachshunds, Shih Tzu's, and Tibetan Spaniel.

If you are going to invest in a pug, make sure you do your research. They are prone to lots of breathing problems, as well as eye problems such as cattaracts and the cornea itself can protrude. They are spunky little dogs, but do your research!!!
