I need feedback from people with degenerative disc disorder.?

Has anybody out there had surgery for this and was it worth it or did it make things worse? I would also like to know if anyone that has this disorder has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and what they do for the pain.

Update:

Yes, the degeneration is in my spine starting from lower to mid back and radiates the pain all through my neck and shoulders too because my nerves are being compressed by this. I also have numerous spurs. I was a victim of a hit and run as I was walking down the road a few years back and fracture the 3rd, 4th, and 5th vertibrae too.

I have severe degenerative disc disease and severe degenerative neurological complications. I've had surgery twelve times on my lower back and cervical spine. I have two "cages" in my back, one lower one the cervical spine. Both are degenerating and the orthopedic doctors cannot do any more for me. Now it's pain pills and crying.I also have 32 pieces of wire and 32 screws holding my back together.

Fibromyalgia is a word for something they can't put there finger on, a pain with no known cause. It's so similar to arthritis and Rheumatism that it cannot be differed.

I have pain from my finger tips to me toes. My fingers and hands both get spasms and shake uncontrollably.

I have DDD along entire spine, fibromyalgia, and arthritis. After trying Lyrica which made me dizzy and caused vomiting, and several other pills that did nothing, I finally made it into a decent pain management clinic. I am taking Opana ER, which is oxymorphone hydrochloride, a schedule II opioid. I also take norco for breakthrough pain, but I'd rather have oxycodone for breakthrough. I also do yoga, massage, chiropractic, aerobic exercise, and other natural treatments. These meds work great for pain! I do not have nerve issues, but a pain management doc could prescribe additional meds for that. I highly recommend that you get a pain doc now, because it may take a great deal of trial and error to find the right doc and right meds.
