My name is Cheryl and I am a pet sitter on a professional level and am licensed, bonded, insured, certified in pet first aid, and a member of Pet Sitters Association of America. I have 5 years experience and work for myself. I also have a fairly extensive background in veterinary medicine and am currently a breeder of Yorkshire Terriers and Maltese along with my father. I don't claim to have all the answers but have had a lot of hands on experience with many different breeds with different problems as far as health or behavioral problems go.

  • Why do the questions I answer along with my answer to it show up on fb? It didn't do it up until a month ago.?

I don't care to have my answers to Yahoo Answers show up on my fb page. How do I stop this?

  • Can anybody out there recommend a good product for mats in long hair breds?

I have a Maltese and Yorkie and am not always home to groom them daily as needed, due to my job, to keep the mats from taking over. I have tried different conditioners but none of them seem to work. I live with my dad, who is with them when I am out of town, but he has arthritis real bad and can't groom them. Please help! I have clipped them down as far as I can with the winter weather, and they do have jackets to wear, but in order to get their coats back to normal I will have to have them shaved and I don't want to have to keep doing that. My little 3lb Maltese nearly has a heart attack just putting her in the car let alone going to a groomer. By the way, I do have a bit more than minimal skills at clipping myself. For those of you who aren't aware, before you send a snide answer, mats can cause health issues if not tended to in a dog such as parasites from fly eggs and skin infections.

  • I need feedback from people with degenerative disc disorder.?

Has anybody out there had surgery for this and was it worth it or did it make things worse? I would also like to know if anyone that has this disorder has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and what they do for the pain.

  • HELP, I can't get the stains off of my dogs eyes & I've tried everything!?

I have two 6 month old white Maltese puppies. They both have the red stains under their eyes. The one isn't so bad, but the other is awful! They are both bathed regularly and I have tried numerous tear stain removal products and they barely work. I have also tried numerous home remedies that I got online. The only thing I haven't tried that was suggested, is my own facial bleach. I'm afraid of getting it in their eyes. Also, it cakes up while you are timing it and falls off in chunks & I don't want my furniture or carpeting ruined. I was thinking of trying it & putting them outside for the 10 or 15 minutes but I live in the high altitude of the California mountains and it's been snowing.

Does anyone have a tried and true remedy that really works and won't harm the puppies. It's really embarrassing to take them out in public like this and it really is bothering me. I'm desperate!!!!!!!

  • This is really bugging me!!! Are people truly as naive as their questions make them sound or just plain?

idiots? Some of the questions make me think that it's a joke. Two of my favorites are "my dog is sick or bleeding, ect., what do I do?" and "how much does it cost to have my dog fixed (or whatever)? I feel sorry for the pets that belong to these ignorant people! What kind of life they must have! I'm waiting for someone to ask if they have to feed their dog or can it just live on water! These people leave me in total awe at their blatant ignorance sometimes! My ten yr. old knows the answer to these questions!

  • Is there anybody that has any knowledge about parvo shots.?

I just gave my puppies their 7 in 1 and on two of them I kinda went all the way through with the needle so they didn't get all the vaccine. Is it OK to give them another one or is the small amount they got enough? My puppies are all toy breed and they give you such huge needles with the vaccine. Poor guys!

  • Do Yorkie pups ears stand up on their own at a certain age?

I just recently purchased two male Yorkies that are exactly 3 months old today. I have had an adult Yorkie in the past so her ears were already standing up. Is there something I need to be doing or do they stand up on their own and at what age usually?

  • HELP!!! My dad decided he wants to breed Yorkies, so he got 5 puppies!!!?

How on earth do you housetrain 5 puppies? One of them is mine and I am a professional pet sitter so I started taking her to my jobs with me. I had her trained within 3 days. We just got home today and I am afraid she will go right back to her old habits. We crate them at night and during the day they have free access to go outside, but still go in the house. I know they are confused because we have puppy pads out too, which they also use. Not to mention with 5 puppies - well - the carpet and rugs are just riddled with pee stains and I'm sure that doesn't help either. Poor puppies. I just felt so overwhelmed that I tried everything at once and got them confused! I've housebroke many puppies and have always been successful within a week at the most. It's going on almost 2 months now and I am so afraid that if something doesn't happen soon that I will be doomed!!! Any advice at all will be appreciated. I have them down to 2 meals a day, 6AM and 6PM. My next step is to remove all pads and keep them outside for a period of time without access indoors, which I have also already tried but with pads still in the house. They would still come in and go right on the floor. I can't shampoo or steam clean the carpet every day and with 5 puppies it's just impossible.

  • I am 47 years old & have had 3 nevous breakdowns. 2 of which I was hospitalized.?

Someone told me that nervous breakdowns make you somewhat crazy each time. Is this true, and how so. I had the best Drs in private hospitals each time & I don't consider myself crazy. Unless I mention the nervous breakdowns no one would know. I currently take Cymbalta, Geodone, and Wellbutrin for my depression and bi-polar episodes. Again, unless I mention this to someone they would never know. I also have an underactive thyroid and take a fairly high dose of med for that because it can also have an effect on depression. All in all everthing is under control. You can't even tell I am on all these meds, but over the years I learned that they are absolutely necessary for me to funtion normally. Could some one please give me an answer to my question & if it is yes, please explain how you got your info. This bothers me.
