Is there anybody that has any knowledge about parvo shots.?
I just gave my puppies their 7 in 1 and on two of them I kinda went all the way through with the needle so they didn't get all the vaccine. Is it OK to give them another one or is the small amount they got enough? My puppies are all toy breed and they give you such huge needles with the vaccine. Poor guys!
Why wouldn't we give them their shots? They can't do it theirselves!
The only shot required to be given by the vet is rabies. The parvo serum is carried at almost any pet supply store. Breeders give the parvo shots to their puppies too. It can get quite expensive getting 3 parvo shots to 5 puppies.
Again, it is not uncommon for pet owners to give their pups parvo shots. Just ask your vet or someone at a pet store. Also, there is not a 3 in 1. The first two parvo shots are 5 in 1 and the 3rd is 7 in 1.

My concern is why are you doing it and not a vet?
Giving a dog a shot is not something to fool around with. I've also never heard of a 7 in 1 shot..you can have a 3 in one but not a 7 in one. If it is a 7 in one then yes you need to give all the medication b/c it is a mixture of a bunch of different vaccines.
Also how were you giving the shot? Intra muscular, intra veins, subcutaneous? and do you know how to give these shots? have you given them before? Were you taught how to give them?
If a shot was suppose to be given intra muscular and you then gave it subcutaneous then there's a good change you just wasted that vaccine.
Please speak to a vet or vet technician about proper needle using.
Add: as a vet assistant i also know how important it is to give the puppies the shots in the right areas. If a vaccine is to be given IM, and it is given SQ then that vaccine will not be absorbed properly and that dog is then still at risk of getting parvo b/c it was not properly vaccinated.
There is also a difference between a every day person and a breeder..A proper breeder would get the information from a vet on proper administration and how much and when to give it as well as all the other information needed in giving a shot. They would also call a vet if they had any questions of concern.
There is a three in one, distemper parvo and influenza
I don't think anyone should take the advice of a pet store clerk on vaccines.. this is something to be discussed with a vet only. there is nothing wrong with giving it yourselves... but all questions of concern should be asked to a vet, also you need to speak with a vet before given the first shot to know about proper needle using.

Why are you giving your puppies the shots by yourself?
They need to have it done at the vet.

Because you aren't a proffesional vet are you?

They need to see a vet. I don't understand why you are giving them shots anyway.
