Greinke for the AL MVP?

Seriously, is anyone really more valuable to their team than Greinke has been to the Royals this year? Sure there is a case for Mauer or Morneau, but if you take either of them away from an average team in Minnesota, you still leave them with an average team. If you take Jeter or Teixeira away from the Yankees they would still be in first and wouldn't miss a beat.

The same argument can not be made for Greinke however... If you take him off of a bad team, you end up with the worst team in baseball. Seriously, where would the Royals be this year without Greinke? It might be a stretch for them to win 40 games without him. With him, they're 31 games below .500. Without him... they might be 50.

Honestly, if you take away Mauer or Morneau away from Minesoata, Minesoata's team will be awful. As a general rule of thumb if a pitcher wins MVP they either have to hvae an incredibly historic year, or none of the hitters really had great years. Mauer is also a catcher, meaning this is an icredibly historic year, I think Mauer is a better MVP canidate sorry. I do think that Greinke deserves Cy Young though.

Yeah like you said...The Royals without Greinke are still the Royals...nothing special. He's up there for Cy Young, but a real MVP makes their team good....You don't find a lot of MVP's on bad teams

Greinke has been mostly brilliant this season. But as in years past, the MVP usually goes to someone on a team that's in the hunt for the playoffs. It's a tragedy but that's how the voters see it. Teams with losing records never get noticed.

Don't get my wrong Greinke is having one hell of a season. When you have Mauer hitting .370 with 26 homers and 80 RBI's from a catcher and missing the first month.

Even though this is coming from a True Twins Fan, everyone has to agree Mauer is def. having an MVP type season

    and P.S.Royals suck period!

well if his team was going to the playoff then maybe he would of had a chance to win MVP, but since he is in a losing team he can only make a run for the Cy young. But you do make a vaild point. But they tend to give a MVp to a team who help them get to the playoff and some very small cases thery give it to a player who was in a losing team.

i dont see how anyone can see value towards the royals. they suck!! a lot of good he did.

cy young is an award that should go to the best pitcher no matter what the other 24 plays on your team can do. mvp is not. if your team is in last place, you clearly have no value.

  • no way, as good of a pitcher that Greinke is, he still plays for a team that doesn't win unless he's on the mound

I wish. Greinke is amazing, his problem is that he is so good. He is better than his team. It hinders him.

He definitely deserves it, but again his bad team probably keeps him from it.

usually a hitter is the mvp, so mauer`s proly ganna get mvp this year, but i do agree with that guy losing teams never get noticed
