What do you think of 'Horehound' by The Dead Weather or the band in general?

I like this band, but was a bit disappointed with the album. Personally, I think tracks on the album were a bit dull compared to the live versions I've seen in their videos. It's still worth checking out, but it was just lacking that raw energy that made me want to buy the album in the first place.

It gets mired in its own meandering nature, which seems to be par for the course with side projects. But, whereas with the Raconteurs, I think with the second album they found their own sound and became more than just a side project, it makes it hard to consider The Dead Weather more than just an experiment or some garage rock fun away from the White Stripes, the Kills, and the Raconteurs for the members involved.

Agreed about enjoying their energy live and on some of the stand-out tracks, but they seem to lose it over the course of the album at times.

BA: The Selby Tigers pop immediately to mind for me. A lot of opening bands that I'll see, that I end up buying their album because I really dug their performance -- I end up disappointed when listening to them in a studio setting.

I saw the Selby Tigers open for.... I think it was the Breeders and really enjoyed their performance. But the energy of the live act was lost on CD.

Ten Years After was good on their albums but great on their live albums.
