Are your children so weak that they will be easily brainwashed by Obama?

I have raised my children to be strong individuals and to go out onto the world and face many challenges and temptations therefore I don't think they will be brainwashed by Obama or anyone else. People who think their children will be brainwashed have simply done a very poor job as parents and raised puppets instead of strong individuals. If you think your kid is going to be hypontized by Obama, because he talks to them about education then blame yourself for raising weak kids. If listening to the President is so dangerous, please never let your kids leave the house because they will face things 100 times worse in the real world.

I think people are being somewhat irresponsible and alarmist. When my kids asked why I didn't vote for Obama I told them I didn't agree with his politics. I've voted for democrats in the past he was one I just couldn't get on board with.

My 16 yo son can't be brainwashed by Obama but has choose on his own not to watch the speech because he has no interest in what Obama has to say. My sons school is taping it and playing it last 20 minutes of school. So that anyone who does not want to watch it can leave without having to miss the whole day.

Forgive me for pointing out the obvious, but parents educate their children - or they should. The schools merely provide access to concentrated information in a formal setting. Parents are 100% responsible for: a) Providing values b) Encouraging curiosity c) Developing healthy skepticism d) Encouraging experimentation e) Distrust of received wisdom f) Distrust of unsupported authority The US is in the throes of an educational crisis the likes of which could make us a third-world nation unless addressed immediately. Unless we are better educated, faster, brighter, work harder and work smarter than the rest of the world we will lose our place in it in short order. What happens in the schools from K-12 has only the smallest of impacts on a child's ultimate educational success. What happens at home is the bulk of it. If parents do not value education all the school becomes is a particularly expensive form of day-care. If they do value education - then they will see to it that their child gets what is needed to be a success. And whether that school is the poorest one in the poorest district in the poorest state, that kid will make a go of it. Whereas the best school in the best district in the richest state will do nothing for a kid whose parents are inert lumps.

I think many people griping about 'brainwashing in the schools' - whether it was liberals in the 50s grousing about whitewashed history or conservatives today deploring the leftist agenda - are worried that large numbers of /other/ people's kids will succumb to brainwashing. Afterall, a lot of them are probably sending thier kids to private school or homeschooling them, already.

Personally, while I have no stake in it (I'll never have children), I still resent the state of education when I went to school. No one brainwashed me, but the repeated attempts were still insulting.

    Screw Oblahblah.

It's the liberal union thug teachers who will use the provided "curriculum" that goes with the speech, to push their politics on impressionable minds.

So your 5 yr. old "goes out into the world and faces many challenges and temptations?" Sounds like you need a visit from CPS.

Of course , their gullible kids you phony . Hitler did the same thing in 1939 . I'm not really worried about my own children because they already know that Obama is a liar . However , there are other children that have weaker minds that will take the bait .

One of the primary strategies of The Frankfurt School was to gain control of secondary education in order to promote marxism as a future way of life in America. Obama is just piggybacking on their idea.

Obama probably won't be president anymore by the time I have kids, so...no.

And besides, all kids are brainwashed in someway or another by their parents. They don't need the help of a public figure.

Kids would do fine listening to him, (some adults have a problem thinking for themselves when he lays it on so thick), it was the self aggrandizing suggested lesson plan suggested by his admin that was the issue. There are several posts which explain the dissenting opinions on YA.

    Lol, that's awsome.

I don't think Obama's trying to "indoctrinate" anyone. But I agree with you - if these parent's think 15 minutes of listening to someone is going to brainwash their kids, they have done a very poor job of raising them! Are they really THAT weak-minded? Heaven forbid they meet a sociopath in the real world.
