Heres a delicious Lebanese dish called "Fatteh" which is made of layered shredded chicken, chickpeas, bread, and yogurt sauce..

    http://gourmettraveller.com.au/images/gmt/recipe/F...

    1 can chickpeas

    4 oz cooked shredded chicken

    1 cup natural yoghurt

    1 lemon, juiced

    3 tablespoons tahini

    1 large clove garlic, crushed

    1 round of pita bread

1/3 cup pine nuts, dry toasted in a frying pan

    ½ teaspoon salt

    Chopped fresh parsley, to garnish

    paprika, to garnish

    Olive oil, to garnish

    1. Drain chickpeas and rinse well.

    2. Heat a frying pan and (without oil) toast pita bread until browned, dry and crispy. Break into shards. (or you can brush with olive oil and bake int he oven until crispy)

    3. In a bowl, whisk yoghurt, tahini, garlic, ½ teaspoon salt and lemon juice until combined. It should have the consistency of runny paint. Add chickpea cooking water if it needs to be thinned.

    4. Place pita shards in a serving dish. Cover with warm chickpeas and shredded chicken. Pour yoghurt sauce then decorate with drizzled olive oil, pine nuts, parsley and paprika.

Variation: you could also add minced lamb, cooked with a little lemon juice and mixed with fresh, chopped parsley and coriander.

  • well, that's a whole lot of different foods. is this for a school project or something? you could either pick different countries and main dishes from there...obviously Italy has awesome lasagna and bruschetta, Mexico has great tacos and beans and such...China has really good rice and veggie and chicken recipes... OR you could do something a little cooler, and stay within the US. Just in the US there are so many different types of foods. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is famous for cheese steak. New Orleans is famous for gumbo and great seafood, Texas is famous for red meat and potatoes, California has carne asada and fish tacos.

Source(s): I'd make beignets. They are really yummy fried "doughnuts". They are not your regular doughnut, they are not round and they are covered in powdered sugar. There is a famous place in New Orleans, Cafe Du Monde, and this is all they serve there. Those with coffeee and milk and such. Cafe Du Monde has been there forever, and beignets are $1 a plate, and they come with 3. They make a mess! So I always got an extra cup of water to dip a napkin in to clean up. The link will tell you about them...the first picture is what a they should look like, that's from Cafe Du Monde...the second picture with the recipe, it's round! That's not an authentic beignet! If you decide you want to make these try and find the Cafe Du Monde recipe. http://whatscookingamerica.net/History/BeignetsHis...

I'll be happy to give you 2: The 1st. dish is Norwegian, the 2nd. is French, both are easy; one more so than the other. 1st. : NORWEGIAN MACARONI - Ingredients: 1c. uncooked elbow macaroni , 4 c. milk , 3 lg. eggs, separated, beat egg yolks well , 1-1/2 c. cut-up American cheese (not imitation) , 1 tsp. salt , 3 lg. egg whites, stiffly beaten, till peaks form - (hint : place a small mixing bowl, along w/ the beaters from a hand mixer, and put in the fridge at least 30 min. makes egg whites form peaks easier. NEXT : Pre-heat oven to 350*f.- DIRECTIONS: Mix macaroni & milk in a 2 qt. casserole dish. Let stand 4 hours. Stir in egg yolks, cheese, and salt, mixing well. Fold in egg whites. Bake for 1 hour. After first 30 min., stir mixture. Yields 8 servings. NEXT RECIPE : This one is called, "ARTICHAUNTS GRATINES" ( Artichokes Au Gratin) - Ingredients : Two 9 oz. bags frozen artichoke hearts (easier this way), 2 Tbl. butter , 2 Tbl. flour , 1/4 tsp. salt , 1/8 tsp. pepper (a pinch) , 1-1/2 c. milk , 1-1/4 c. Gruyere cheese. DIRECTIONS :Pre-heat oven to 350*f. Cook artichokes according to package. Drain & place in buttered 1-1/2 qt. casserole dish (you may use an olive oil cooking spray-recommended, but takes away from authenticity). Melt butter over low heat. Stir in flour, salt & pepper until smooth & bubbly. Gradually stir in milk. Stir to a boil. Boil one minute, stirring. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese until melted. Pour over artichokes. Bake 20 min. or until bubbly. Yields 6 servings. I do hope these are to your liking. The above recipes are not hard; be patient & pace yourself. You'll master these & many others like a pro, in no time.
