seeking help with MS Office Word 2007 Word art and Clip art...?

I've done this before and it worked. I don't know what I am missing this time. When I try to insert it, it will only show part of the text or image. Meaning that a slice off the top of the text is not visible. When I try to move it around the page... say move it higher, it goes above the page and I can't see it. if I try to move it lower, some other problem comes up. Is it my formatting?? I've tried on a clean blank document and haven't changed anything.... it's almost like the text/picture doesn't fit in the box and any adjustment I make doesn't make a difference. Help and advice much appreciated.
