Force the 360 to send the audio over HDMI and the video over the standard composite cables?
I need a way to force my 360 to send the DD5.1 audio over the HDMI cable into my reciever, and the video over the standard composite cables that came with it. This only just became a problem after moving the home cinema into a room with an SDTV. I would just use an optical cable, but I don't want to pay for another one or keep switching over from my sky box; my PS3 allows you to do it just fine so why not the xbox? (*sigh*).
I tried the AV cable hack where you take off the plastic case so you can fit both in, but when I tried it it just switched over to HDMI video again and, as such, I receive no picture.
I've tried plugging in the SD cables into the tv, and then starting up the console. I then try plugging in the HDMI, and what happens is the Xbox resets itself and sends out a 1080p signal (assumingly, since that was the setting when it was downstairs, and no picture appears on this telly). Aswell as this it sends out the 5.1 to the receiver.
So, I can either have a picture, or good sound.

Plug in the standard defintion cables directly into your TV, and set the definiton and audio to standard defintion. Then, plug in your HD cables, make sure it's switched to HD, and make the switch again, using the hookup you want. This should fix your problem, but technical support will have the best way of helping you since we are envisioning your set-up through text.

if you plug your Hdmi cable directly into the TV and then plug your RED/WHITE audio cable into the TV as well ( or if your have one use a scart cable) set your surround sound system to either line out or a output devices via the remote in the system menu and there you have it a 1080 tv with SS while playing the PS3...goodluck...
