How do I ensure my colors stay true to my creation?

Everytime that I edit my images, either in Photoshop or Lightroom and send (export) them to the web (either email/web gallery) the colors become muted and dull. I have checked to ensure that the images are either in Adobe 1998 or sRBG and nothing, the images still look like crap. I have to export my images (converting to jpg) and then color correct them using a 3rd party app to give contrast and saturation. Can anyone help?!

Adobe 1998 doesn't look that good under Internet Explorer. Try loading another browser. like Firefox, and see if that makes a difference.
