I've had that recently ... there's lots of reasons for it; mine was that the previous type of hormonal birth control i've taken threw my menstrual cycle really out of whack. my constant bleeding was very heavy, and i was worried about the risk of hemorrhaging. my doctor prescribed the traditional oral contraceptive pill, which really tamed my extended bleeding real quick.
if you have a regular doctor you'd see (or used to see until you've lost your medical coverage), then there's no harm or cost to just call them up and ask for an opinion over the phone. a simple answer over the phone could be all you need.
until then, you could try riding it out ... drink lots of water, take a daily multi-vitamin, eat lots of iron-rich foods, to help offset the blood lost during this unusual menstrual bleeding. of course, if you get to feeling nausious and light-headed, then it's SUPER SERIOUS and you need to see a doctor or emergency room ASAP. the sooner you act upon it, the less damage casued to your body later on - less damage there is to fix, the cheaper it'll be to fix it.

Might be something wrong with hormones. I've known of a woman who had her period for 2 months straight, heavy flow, and it turned out to be just that - a period, and nothing more serious, However, it's certainly not normal. Try and go to a Health Department, they will check you out and not as $100 for it. They base payments on your income.

You NEED to see a doctor because you could have something very serious!
Go to an urgent care clinic or the ER.

It could be something as simple as a hormone inbalance such as low estrogen levels but you should get it checked out to be on the safe side.

look for one like it around where you live!
you don't need anything to go there - just $100, more or less
