would you take your 12 year old out of school 30 minutes early to drive to a football game?

I have to drive his older sister and we need to leave 30 minutes before school gets out.

That should be fine. I don't think there is much harm in missing the last 30 minutes of the day. This is usually when kids are restless at school knowing that the day is almost done anyway. Remember to get any homework assignments the child may have so as not bother their grades. As far as leaving the child home alone. I believe that 12 may still be a bit too young. I could see an instance where you would have a very mature 12 year old. But they are still only 12. I wouldn't leave my child until at least 15 but that is just me.

Yes I would take her out early if there isnt anybody else that can take care of her & she probably cant be at home by herself. Maybe you could ask her if she has a friends house to go to while your gone because she might not want to go & she might have homework.

    Good luck

It's only 30 minutes, it isn't life or death. Let him know to let his last classes know he'll be leaving early and will need his assignments then. It's that simple.

I don't see too much harm in it... as long as it doesn't become a regular habit, things will be fine..

    Stuff happens all the time!

Can't he take the bus home? A 12 year old is capable of being home alone for a few hours. It depends on the situation, what are the alternatives?
