Has anyone used steal strings on an acoustic guitar?
So my buddie and are going to be playing some shows with dueling acoustic guitars and we wanted each of our guitars to sound different so they wouldn't blend together. We saw this other pair of acoustic guitars play at the bar and one had steal strings on it. They sounded awesome but I didn't know if it was from the steal strings or their petal set up...
Has anyone used steal stings on an acoustic guitar and did it sound different, cool or just scary? - If you haven't, how do you think it would sound or is there another way to not have two acoustic guitars sound the same..

It was the petal set-up do not use daffodil petals, it will make your guitar sound daffy also do not use crocus petals they tend to make your guitar sound well, croaky, lemon and lime blossom petals are sure to give you some sour notes. Roses and jasmine now, those petals can give you the sweetest smelling sounds.
Strings can give you plenty of contrast from the dull thud of lead strings to the whine of titanium strings.
I have tried everything and have found some interesting sounds in different strings there is the dull thud from lead strings mentioned above with no sustain possible at all, Binder twine had an interesting thunk with a little sustain but the strings are very short lived. Now fishing line has always been one of my favorites, and there are many good brands to choose from such as Stren, Trilene, Berkley, Maxima, and Spiderline just to name a few, most have an excellent CLASSY sound with good sustain. And please don't STEAL the strings. Well, what else can I tell you? Experiment and have fun and if it doesn’t workout you’ll have enough stuff collected to set yourself up with some good fishing tackle. Good fishing.

I don't think too much of Epiphones in general, or even Gibson acoustics for that matter. Spend more and get a Martin or a Taylor if you want a good guitar. I'm not sure what a "select spruce" top is but I suspect it's plywood or else they would have said "solid spruce top." That's a lot to pay for an all-plywood guitar. I use and recommend Elixir Nanoweb light gauge acoustic strings but you may very well prefer some other brand. The best thing for you to do is to keep trying different brands until you find your favorite. Good luck.

Classical guitars must have non-steel strings or it will destroy the guitar. All other acoustic guitars use some form of steel strings. Read up on how guitar strings are made, all about the phosphor/bronze wound stuff, stc. Steel is at most of the cores, hence the generic term "steel strings".Most important, an absolute imperative: Use nylon strings on a classical. It is not designed to handle steel strings. Plus it is just plain...wrong!

What are you talking about? With the exeption of nylon string classical guitars, all guitar strings are steel. If your playing a nylon strung classical then anything else will have steel strings on it and they sound great.

If your guitar came with nylon strings, DO NOT put steel strings on it. If you do so, you may well ruin the guitar. Steel strings have more pull on the top (tension) than nylon strings do, and the guitar needs to be braced appropriately.
