    of course they should..no doubt!

Gretzky was the best in NHL, and 99 was retired..so same situation..Jordan is noted as the greatest by probably 99% of all people..so in thats case 23 should be retired, the hall of fame is not enough to his legacy, they must retire his 23 to fully honor his legacy he left behind in the NBA, but some might argue that bill Russell's 6 should be retired too, now he was amazing too..but Jordan was the best despite russell having more rings bc jordan had multiple leage mvp's, final mvp's, scoring titles, he had that 50points in the slam dunk contest..i mean just look at his stats,.he had something like 31 points per game throughout his carrier, so its clear 23 should be retired!!

Source(s): personal opinion..some facts..look up the stats yourself...

No because it diminishes the greatness of players that wore #23 before and during the time Michael Jordan ever did. Do not get me wrong MJ is the G.O.A.T of all 2G's or G's for that matter to have ever played in the NBA, but rightly so MJ a person who respects the game would not want his number never to be worn again because it undermines those who've worn it before him and those of which are wearing it now or in the future. Basketball is a form of history when it comes to the players that played in the NBA and history should be seen as cyclical and not linear, so the #23 jersey should remain intact, except for in Chicago and Washington.

    Calvin Murphy

    Mitch Richmond

    All wore #23

disagree. i like Jordan, and his impression over the league became staggering. The NBA is the main time-honored international US league and that is because of the fact of MJ that no longer basically gamers like Dirk, Yao, and Gasol are in the league, yet in addition he stimulated the enjoying form of Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, and Vince Carter. yet if certainty be told, he did no longer wreck any barriers or perhaps get rid of the league from financial disaster like chicken and Magic, so as a result he don't have his variety retired for the period of the league. yet MJ=GOAT

No. Should they retire the number 45 as well because he wore that for a while too. The Bulls have his jersey hanging in the rafters. That's good enough.

Yep, I thought they should have done that years ago. When you think of the number 23 in Basketball you think of Michael Jordan. Period

    No.

Then they should of retired the numbers:

    32

    34

    33

    13

    11

    6... and so on.

Besides it not about the number it's about the player.

Either that or make him the logo. Clearly, the game hasn't been the same since he elevated it.
