Am I crazy or is my ex-landlord?

i had rented an apt that shortly after moving in my landlord and/or his young adult children were outside my bedroom and bathroom window doing some kind of repairs or something almost daily. It was a nuisance and uncomfortable. Then after that certain personal mail from 2 people was always taking longer then normal to arrive and began to appear opened after I did receive it. After I brought it up to my landlord and said this apt wasn't working out and that I was going to report the mail issue to the post office 2 days later there was a suspicious fire in my apt while I was at work. My landlord blamed my dog and said that the fire dept had been there. After i arrived home something didn't seem right and I called the fire dept and was told the fire had not been reported to them. There was little damage done and my pets were unharmed. Before I could have it investigated my landlord entered the apt illegally and removed the evidence of the fire a day later while I was at work the landlord removed all my belongings and began repairs without permission. Since I was planning on moving anyway I moved in with a friend and picked up my stuff. 2 months later the landlord came into my place of employment and dropped off some paperwork and then left a message on my phone telling me he had done so. In the paperwork and on the phone he has told me if I don't pay this amount he will sue me for a lot more including breaking the lease. one more thing before he moved me out he told me that he had a couple that wanted to move into my apt and would I mind moving to another apt about a mile from that one. So is it extortion? does he have any foot to stand on?

If it is as you say it is, then your landlord, almost no matter what state you're in, has broken SEVERAL laws...

...the problem, though, is your being able to PROVE it in a court of law. Mounting a law suit is tough... and very expensive.

But then again, so's fighting one. And if he's gonna' drag you into court anyway, then you might as well counter sue.

But, in the end, ONLY AN ATTORNEY should be advising you on this. Seriously. No one here can really help you. The most anyone here can do is what I've done and that's tell you that, yes, you probably have a case... if you can PROVE it. It only matters what you can PROVE.

A member in good standing of your state's BAR can (and should be the only one to) advise you. Please find one, and then follow ONLY his/her advice, and no one's here.

    Hope that helps.

    did you have a lease?

in my jurisdiction I(as a landlord) can only enter unannounced if I feel there is an emergency

a fire would have been an emergency but since the fire dept does not even know about it it is bogus

his continually entering your place sounds like he is all in the wrong

and I am still fighting my tenant who claims I invaded his space when after over 2 yrs of continual communication, suddenly he fails to contact me regarding payment, delay, partial etc, and would not even return phone calls when I went into the condo and found someone sleeping there who had no business there--go figure

He sounds creepy. Since he moved you out, I can't see how he can now come after you for breaking the lease. He is responsible for repairs and if the place wasn't habitable, he should not be after anything from you. Further, he sounds like a perv. If there is a rent board in your town, or some other city/county institution, you should report this guy.

If she sues you for damages, you answer the criticism and teach information of no damages or finished fee. she will ought to teach the damages and the cost. no count if that is greater suitable than $seven hundred nicely worth of harm, she is interior her rights to pass after the difference between the protection deposit and the quantity it value her. If she saved the protection deposit considering you broke the hire, then that quantity is going in direction of lease no longer paid, and you will ought to pay for the damages one by one. distinctive rentals conceal injury expenses at the same time with nail holes, carpet injury, etc. The courtroom won't undertaking itself with outdoors subjects, at the same time with paying human beings decrease than the table. they are going to basically evaluate in spite of the fact that the priority is that she places in the criticism.
