What was wrong with Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame speech?
I've read about two articles which negatively say Michael jordan's speech was "petty" and selfish wand he made a lot of disparaging comments toward people. I don't get why the speech was so bad. I would like some input on that.

I didn't think it was that bad either. He's always gonna be competitive, that's what has got him so far. It's just Micheal Jordan. Sure maybe his speech was a little petty, but he's a basketball player, not a professional speaker. He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame! :)

They were saying that because they felt Jordan used his speech to settle things with his old foes instead of ending his story. Instead of thanking his teammates, coaches, and family he spent more time recalling all of his past foes. He talked more about Russell than Pippen. He talked more about Van Gundy and Riley than Phil Jackson. Jordan is still that same man he was back in the day. Just as competitive as ever. But we wouldn't have it any other way would we.

in my opinion, it wasnt a good speech. i will say though, after all the years of being controlled by the nba and nike to say the right thing at every situation, and not speaking his own mind but rather that of his own endorsement interests (a la even republicans by sneakers), i think he waited for this specific moment to say it all. in one sense i think he has every right to let people know what his motivation was and what inspired him, and to finally to say something back to doubters and those who did him 'wrong'. but at the same time, come on dude, your 46, take the high road, set an example for your kids and those wathcing. it made him actually look petty...he should keep those things to himself, because in fact, he should THANK those people for inspiring him to become who he is and make all that money.
in conclusion, he is a petty old man....out with the old in with new...even michael jordan becomes old news.

It's just a speech, but it's "HIS" speech, he can say whatever he wants.
Jordan always has done things the way he wants without being worried about what others say about him.
I liked the speech, I thought it was Jordan being Jordan...

They have been saying that by way of fact they felt Jordan used his speech to settle issues together with his previous foes instead of ending his tale. instead of thanking his teammates, coaches, and kinfolk he spent extra time recalling all of his previous foes. He talked extra approximately Russell than Pippen. He talked extra approximately Van Gundy and Riley than Phil Jackson. Jordan remains that comparable guy he replaced into decrease back interior the day. basically as aggressive as ever. yet we does not have it any opposite direction could we.

Van Gundy and Russell should for defamation of character. Jordan's National Basketball HOF induction speech was the worse in professional sports history. It was petty, vindictive and kind of a selfish ramble.

yeah i read a couple of articles that spoke negative about his speech. honestly i liked it when i watched it on tv. its like when that man talks, everyone listens. and when i read those stupid articles that's when i started to question his speech....but in all honesty, like others has stated here, its HIS speech and its MJ so he can say whatever he feels like it. i enjoyed it very much and got goosebumps when they showed his highlights.
